As one of only twelve performers in history to win an Emmy, a Tony, a Grammy, and an Oscar over her long career, dancer, actress, and singer Rita Moreno is forever implanted in performing arts history. She was born in Puerto Rico as Rosa Dolores Alverio, and after a move to New York in her childhood, she made her professional debut by age 13. By her late teens, Moreno had been acting in Hollywood films, of which one such role landed her an Oscar: as Anita in West Side Story. Later, when Moreno became a wife and mother, she decided to explore the career of television. Her work in the children's series, The Electric Company, earned a Grammy award for her contributions to the show's soundtrack. She received a Tony award for her role of Googie Gomez in The Ritz, and then proceeded to earn two Emmys for her television work on The Muppet Show and The Rockford Files. As an accomplished versatile performer, we commend Rita Moreno for her Chairman's Award presented by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. Como una de sólo doce artistas en historia para ganar un Emmy, un Tony, un Grammy y un Oscar durante su larga carrera, bailarina, actriz y cantante Rita Moreno se implanta para siempre en la historia de la realización de las artes. Nació en Puerto Rico como Rosa Dolores Alverio, y después de un traslado a Nueva York en su infancia, hizo su debut profesional por los trece años. Por su adolescencia, Moreno había estado actuando en películas de Holywood, de los cuales uno de esos papel le aterrizó un Oscar: como Anita en West Side Story.
